  • This 60 ton, three truck Shay kit is based on the West Side Lumber Company #12. The multi-media kit is composed of pewter, resin and 3d printed parts. Two extensive photo-etched frets allow you to create a highly detailed operating Nn3 locomotive. To add ballast, some of the parts are cold-cast with brass filled resin. The completed kit can be operated with one or two power trucks (available separately on our website). Detailed instructions make building the kit as easy as possible. Click on the instructions tab to view the instructions. Click on the video tab to see this Shay in operation. Many thanks to Tom Knapp for the video. He says "The car behind the loco is a Republic Locomotive Works West Side gasoline & diesel car. The second car is a scratch-built cordwood load. The track is Rokuhan Classic, throttle is Rokuhan RC02, water car is Showcase kit". Also click the video tab to see a video of a very excellent and helpful step-by-step build that was so kindly contributed by Bill Hodgdon (this video is of the Standard N Scale version)

    • West Side No. 12 Shay Kit
Very well engineered and highly detailed kit. With two of the power trucks (wired together for eight-wheel pick-up), I can get reliable slow operation down to 3 scale miles per hour through turnouts and difficult track. See video at: https://youtu.be/4U-hDS6Fo_o
