This PRR Signal is typical of all Showcase Miniature signals - very intricate and well thought out. I built mine under magnification, which I recommend even if you still have pretty good eyes as that #40 wire is a bear to work with. A degree of patience is a must, and I built mine over the course of three weeks. While I probably could have got by with only two or three "indications" on mine, I went ahead and put an LED in each hole just in case I ever decide to move it elsewhere. This meant feeding 32 (count 'em!) wires through the mast which was actually easier than it sounds. I went with the more classic "three horizonal ambers" for stop instead of the "double red" that became more common in the 1960s. I used a 1.5K resistor for the center light and a 560-ohm resistor on the double LEDs. Everything is fed from a 12VDC regulated supply. The color of the LEDS is well balanced and has that warm amber glow. The lamp cases and casting to attach the head(s) to the pole are outstanding.

Follow the directions carefully. I had heard about Krystal Kleer for decades and FINALLY bought some for use as lenses. The same for Canopy Glue. I modified the platforms a bit but essentially built the model as intended. I painted mine with aluminum silver for everything but the front of the target and hoods. Those I painted "engine black". This offering from Showcase is a must for any PRR / Penn Central /Conrail modeler. One can be made for ANY desired arrangement found "from Penn Station New York to Chicago".
